Fifteen

The scent of deep heat
Fills the air
Minds are fixed and focused
Tape binds ears and hair

Final words from Captain Tom
Shirts pulled on with pride
Happy to be back again
Smiles are big and wide

Tramp out to the field of play
Final stretch and thought
Steel yourself mentally
For the battle to be fought

I don't like mud
I don't like rain
Don't mind the hits
Don't notice the pain
When I'm part of fifteen
I'm happy as can be
On the field of play
My game, rugby

The referee blows his whistle
The heard pounds really hard
Anticipating the big hit
As you dash the final yard

When contacts made the first time
A smile comes to my face
The summer break a memory
I'm in my perfect place

I don't like mud
Don't mind the rain
Love the hits
Don't feel the pain
When I'm part of fifteen
I'm happy as can be
On the field of play
My game, rugby

I'll battle, I'll toil, I'll work and strive
Hope I can last season twenty five
