No smiles fill the walk-way
Between carriage one and two
Packed out train where people stand
Cause there's nothing else to do
Five companions share this problem
With me, for who knows for how far
Till their journeys comes to an end
Or a seat's found in a quieter car
One, though, piques my interest
Standing by the opposite door
Something about how she watches me
Seems familiar, I'm sure
Suit-clad, holding shoulder bag
She stares all around
Watching scenery rush by
To where blue sky meets the ground
Legs crossed as she stands
Holding the red grab rail
Though she looks neither
Tired from her day or frail
No rings are visible
Grasping ticket in her left hand
What kind of day has she had?
And what tonight is planned
Looks like she's alighting
At the next stop, Banbury
Hope you have a nice evening
My smiley-eyed lady
