Frustration

Message received near Leamington
Not long left to Brum
To tell my story to you
In one word is it's sum

Frustration is it's name today
Standing on a crowded train
Watching pretty girls plaster themselves
In the name of vane

Frustration is it's title
Too long cooped inside
No escape to the bright outdoors
Stare at the blue sky far and wide

Frustration, i challenge you
It this all you've got
Think your petty acts today
Will make me lose the plot?

Frustration, you're pathetic
And a bit soft in the head
Think I'm gonna carry you
All the way to my bed?

Frustration.........I thank you
Through this verse I've left you outside
So now I can welcome those that matter
Safely back inside

Cancel

Can you imagine a place, space or a time, where it mattered not if words were said in rhyme. Picture that place, for I am right here, and there will always be an absence of tears.

And I'll draw in your mind, the picture I see, so that you can all join in this pleasure with me. But know that it's my view that's paraded right now, I know you might not all agree somehow.

Now tell me, see how wonderful it is, everything is calmness, no fluster or tizz. I want to show you something, special to me. Will show you in my words of honesty.

Caught I am fully, captured all round, bound up so I can't say a word, make a sound. But happy I am, wrapped in it all, floating gently, no fear of crisis or fall.

Everything here's no word of a lie, you know I speak it plainly, just look in my eye. Please believe what I say, honesty I promised you, so here's what I'm happy to do.

Let's cancel the stars, the moon and the sun, you're brighter and prettier than every single one. Cancel the day they make me go away, for this is the place I forever want to stay.

Words missing

Am short today
Of a word or two
Not much information
Is coming through

Am missing today
Of a verb or noun
Nothing seems to float
Just wants to drown

Need to change job
Turn detective
Find where I lost
My adjective
My objective is
Relocate me
Dig deep, recall
My internal dictionary

And when I discover
Where I've left myself
I'll dust myself down
Climb off of my shelf

And fire some words
Directly to you
You know it's what
I most love to do

For they say everything
That my voice can't impart
Hope they send an arrow
Straight to your heart

Caught in the act

You watched me look
Saw it in your eyes
How you turned away
Almost in surprise

Yes, I was watching
You're so pretty
I'm just a man
And you are so lovely

Tall and dark
With a certain air
Long and flowing
Beautiful dark hair

Eyes I know
Could burn at me
But why do they not?
Do you like what you see?

I gaze away
Just for a short while
But when I return
You're wearing a smile

And when you noticed me
You seemed slightly fraught
Seems I wasn't the only one
That got caught

Rebecca

Saw an old friend on the train
After posting that last verse
Had to look quite carefully
Didn't recognise her at first

Slightly haunted was her look
When before it was so bright
No happily-go-lucky air today
Something didn't seem quite right

Waved a friendly hello to her
And went to sit beside
Wanted to see how she was
And what ghosts lurked deep inside

Ring missing from her finger
I commented as much
The wound is clearly very deep
Her eyes filled up and such

The weight loss, the lack of sleep
Apparent on her face
No sparkle at all to her smile
Was all so out of place

We chatted, laughed, shared old times
Hope she'll be ok
I had to go, my station called
Rebecca carried on her lonely way

Semester glow

Kids throwing stones
As the train rolls by
Pregnant lady from the platform
Catches my eye

What is the thing, this gift
That I can tell when they're with child
Before they start to show or tell
And no MATB1 is filed

Been like this for so long
Happens every where I go
They carry a certain aura
A warm, distinctive glow

I've placed bets before with colleagues
The looked at me rather strange
As I know you will do too
When you're reading from this page

A friend told me it's common
But not too see the aura bright
And I can feel them when they're close
Or even out of sight

Happens in the supermarket
When they walk behind my back
I know you'll think I'm crazy
But please cut me some slack

I never chose this.....ability
It grows stronger as I grow old
And to talk about this to you now
Might see me left out in the cold

But here it is, a part of me
You'll see from time to time
Looking inwards instead of outwards
But always told in rhyme

Y.L.L.E.L.

Nervous fingers, twitching away
Two pretty rings adorn your left hand
Empty coffee cup by your side
Notebook fired up, your journey's planned

Sweep your hair away again and again
From those pretty eyes of green
Looking up for a moment
To view the lovely sunrise scene

You look like Evangeline Lilly
But much more real
You remind me of Evangeline Lilly
With your jacket of striped teal

You look like Evangeline Lilly
I could fall for your charms
You remind me of Evangeline Lilly
But I want to be in another's arms

Gather up your soft brown bag
When the train finally comes to rest
Flash those sparkling eyes at me
You won't put me to the test

You might look like Evangeline Lilly
And for right or wrong
You could be Evangeline Lilly
But I know where I belong

Aisle 43

Six people fill my vision
On this crowded smelly train
For three, this is their only mention
But it won't cause them any pain

First is old before her time
Keeping younger sibling happy
Wonder how many times
She's changed a dirty nappy?

Ten at most I'm sure
Looks at me with older eyes
Is growing up too early
A problem or a prize?

Next to me is salad chatty girl
Shovelling in as she speaks
Talking rapidly on the phone
Food squirrelled in her cheeks

But one that interests me
She has such a classy air
Elegance radiates from her
With seemingly so little care

Reminds me so much of my friend
Pretty but intruiging too
Draws me in so easily
Just like you

Something so familiar
Are you keeping me company?
Do you know I need you near
So I can just be

I'll just drink it all in
Stylish clothes, patented shoe
I'd love to lean in and kiss her
But I'd only think of you

Morning bright

Light creeps slowly upwards
Birds chirp away
Bright overcomes darkness
Revealing another day

Night leaves gradually
Leaving dew behind
I walk in to the morning
Wondering what I'll find

The sound of my footfalls
Echoes through the streets
Occasionally a car flies past
Rousing people from thier sleeps

I'm the only one on foot
All alone in this vicinity
Thoughts wander to many things
Alone in my privacy

Until I make it to the station
Where voices ring out loud
Know I want this day to be
A time I make myself feel proud

Caught between one and two

No smiles fill the walk-way
Between carriage one and two
Packed out train where people stand
Cause there's nothing else to do

Five companions share this problem
With me, for who knows for how far
Till their journeys comes to an end
Or a seat's found in a quieter car

One, though, piques my interest
Standing by the opposite door
Something about how she watches me
Seems familiar, I'm sure

Suit-clad, holding shoulder bag
She stares all around
Watching scenery rush by
To where blue sky meets the ground

Legs crossed as she stands
Holding the red grab rail
Though she looks neither
Tired from her day or frail

No rings are visible
Grasping ticket in her left hand
What kind of day has she had?
And what tonight is planned

Looks like she's alighting
At the next stop, Banbury
Hope you have a nice evening
My smiley-eyed lady

Monday Mourning

Only seven minutes
To write my verse
Before the train arrives
Four hundred twenty seconds
To tell
Why there's no sparkle in my eyes
For Monday mourning
Just for once
Is not a state of mind
But tumbling empty feelings
To which
I was often blind
Monday, Monday mourning
Has caught me out
Today
Off the edge of the precipice
Seems the only way
Now the train is
Tumbling too
Towards me down the track
Wish history would lie
To me
When i stop and just look back

Mood-matching

Good days, catch the waves
Spring in the old legs yet
Bad days, same old ways
But I'll never forget

That I am here and you are there
But miles matter none
Not space or time, or poorly rhyme
Will make us come undone

Our connection crosses
A thousand miles of space
There's no feeling that your gentle words
Can ever not replace

Mood-matching
It's the strangest of thing
Reading each other silently
So that hearts unite and sing
Mood matching
And we're totally in the dark
Of this thing there is between us
Just know there's magic and a spark

Winter shoes, snowy blues
Distractions fill the air
But warming hands and kind understands
Replace all woes with care

Our connections crosses
Every barrier we know
And in our own sweet way
Our love will always grow

Mood-matching
It's the strangest of thing
Reading each other silently
So that hearts unite and sing
Mood matching
And we're totally in the dark
Of what happens between us
Just know there's magic and a spark

Girl on Platform 2

I caught you looking then
Do you know?
Wonder what about me
Intrigues you so?

I'm medium build
With short brown hair
My green eyes smile
Like I have no care

I'm observant
Or so I'm often told
Which is why I caught you
Being so bold

Do you want to talk?
Should i say 'hello'?
But I'm unsure of
Just where to go

Why do you look?
You're so very pretty
Can't imagine what
You see in me

Wouldn't know where to start
To talk to you
I'd get all flustered
I often do

The train's due now
Its coming round the curve
Should I sit by you?
No, I don't have the nerve.

Seat 40

One older, one younger
For a moment best friends
Sharing time side by side
Until their journey ends

Sunlight streams in the window
As the countryside flies by
I wonder what they're thinking
As I look to catch their eye

Think I'll describe them now
As they're both so very fair
To give you a picture
Of their appearance, their air

The older, seems thoughtful
Crossword puzzle to stimulate
Gentle seems her nature
Almost happy to wait

Till the destination is reached
Or may be that's me
Reading too much in to something
That I simply can't see

Wonder where she is headed
And what she will do
When the journey is over
Is she coming home to you?

The younger is pretty
May be stunning is right
Hair falling softly
Eyes piercingly bright

Lost in conversation
With phone in right hand
May be she's just trying
To make it go as smoothly as planned

Wonder where she is headed
With her graceful style
Does she know deep down
She has a most beautiful smile

I'm parked in number 40
When I check out my seat
I'm grateful to you ladies
You've made my trip complete
