Stand still

Starting out while the ground is dark
As morning springs from night
Sun begins to colour the sky
Making the heavens so bright

Headlights flash as I drive on
The contrast is so strong
The world around seems muted
Feels like the sun does not belong

Is the light intruding
It almost seems as so
Rousing people from their sleep
Saying 'time to dress and go'

And I feel like I'm intruding
In the place that I am now
Can't quite describe it to you
Or find the words somehow

But I know that light and heat and warmth
Are felt, this much I know
And that helps fix me in that place
Don't want to turn and go

Stay rooted to this place I shall
Has a feel I could call home
No longer need to wander
Or let my poor heart roam
